Acidia cognata are mainly found in meadows and forest edges. The larvae are oligophagous leaf miners of a variety of plants in the family Asteraceae, mainly feeding from August until October on Tussilago farfara (Coltsfoot), Arctium lappa (Greater Burdock), Petasites. Pupation occurs externally, in the soil.
