Males have a striking silvery appearance due to the dense white pilosity on the abdomen. The thoracic dorsum is grey with a pair of narrow paler stripes. Females are a drabber pale grey-brown with darker bands across the tergites and dark brown stripes on the thoracic dorsum.

Habitat: open sandy areas, especially mid-forest and coastal dunes. It usually sits directly on the ground, much less often on trunks, leaves or flowers. The larvae develop as predators in sandy ground.
